I've just finished reading the book of Nahum and was struck by something. Once saved, always saved, comes in many guises, but God doesn't work that way. He gave the people of Nineveh the opportunity to repent but how quickly they forgot. It's not enough for us to tell God that we're sorry, we need to turn away from those wrongs and forsake them. God will not save us in our sins, once saved does NOT equate to ALWAYS saved. I exhort each of us to search our hearts and ask God to remove EVERYTHING that would cause us to lose out on the salvation He offered us when He died on the cross.

Jesus is coming so soon folk. Let's ask Him to live within us. Let's learn from the past and improve on it.
A loving, lovable Christian is the most powerful argument in favor of the truth.

Thank you so much Thandi for this counsel. When I was a Colporter I once met a lady who had this idea of once saved always saved. I asked her if she would think she was still saved if she were deliberately sinning sitting on a railway line when she got run over and killed. She said "yes" and she could never lose salvation whatever she did. What a tragic deception. But the frightening thing is that it is possible to hold that doctrine and not even be aware of it. We can blithely go about our daily lives without stopping to examine ourselves to see if we are really in the faith. EVERY sin must be gotten rid of.

Robert
